The Mystery of the 500-Million-Year Old Dorchester Pot

It’s an object that few have heard of, maybe because it’s easy for you to be unfamiliar with such products. A small bell-shaped vase with a small opening on its top is the Dorchester pot.

The length of the pot is around 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) high, 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) in diameter at the base and 6.4 cm (2.5 inches) in diameter at the top.

You can see six floral ornaments on its side and a kind of vine or crown on the bottom. The small vase is made entirely of zinc and has been decorated with silver inlay.

The decorative work and perfect manufacturing of Dorchester vase denote its creator was a master craftsman in the molding of this metal.

This incredible pot was excavated in two pieces after an explosion was used to break up rock at Meeting House Hill, in Dorchester, Massachusetts in 1852.

The age of the pot is the number one discussion among experts as it appears that no one can agree on how old it exactly is.

According to geologists, the Roxbury Conglomerate, where this mysterious pot originated from, has been dated as having accumulated between 570 and 593 million years ago during the Ediacaran Period.

Does this make it between 570 and 600 million years old? According to several researchers it is a possibility. In principle, it is not too clear if the pot was really “embedded” within the rock since the explosion was the cause of its discovery.

According to many ancient alien theorists the Dorchester Pot is evidence supporting the theory of the “presence of artistic metal workers in North America over 600 million years ago.

Scientific American article about Dorchester pot.

These claims would place the Dorchester pot as being one of the members of million year old artifacts discovered worldwide.

Other researchers believe that the Dorchester Pot had been manufactured by an ancient civilization that predated the Noachian Flood.

It is very interesting that several botanists believe that the plant species that appear on the Dorchester pot disappeared from our Planet thousands of years ago.

According to some, it is believed that the Dorchester pot was dated as being at least 100,000 years old, but the pot and all of the documentation that accompanied it, for previous studies have disappeared mysteriously.

The first and almost unique historical background to the Dorchester pot is dated June 5th 1852, from the publication of the magazine Scientific American.

The mysterious pot is also discussed on page 46 of the 1985 Reader’s Digest Association book called Mysteries of the Unexplained.

It is difficult to try to explain the real origin of the Dorchester Pot since the artifact went missing without a trace.

Whether this artifact belongs to a million year old civilization, or if it actually does depict plant species that disappeared from Earth thousands of years ago is a mystery, that will not be resolved unless the mysterious object is returned from its hiding place.
